Having a mission statement is important for all organizations – it is the reason you do what you do. Recently, we decided that our mission statement wasn’t descriptive enough. It said what we wanted to achieve, but was missing the “how,” and that’s something a mission statement must include.
This process has allowed us to think more strategically about what we want to communicate, and with whom. It gave us the opportunity to look at our educational tools and resources with fresh eyes, allowing us to refine our materials.
Plus, we now have a vision to aspire to: Safe, responsible boaters.
