One book that has influenced me and the way I manage in 2019 is “Radical Candor” by Kim Scott.
It is a must-read for anyone who manages people, and this year I have put into practice her advice to prioritize one-on-one meetings with my direct reports. No matter what other issues come at us, we don’t cancel those meetings.
It is my opportunity every week to listen to the people on my team and understand their perspectives on what’s working and what’s not. My employees set the agenda, and it is my job to listen, clarify, guide and sometimes push.
