What’s in a Name? Rebranding to Meet the Needs of a Shifting Industry

by The 100 Companies

After more than 80 years in business, the American Society of Travel Agents successfully rebranded as the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), reflecting a renaissance within the travel agency industry.

The name change marks the transformation of the industry’s core transactional “agent” to the more holistic “advisor”– akin to financial advisors and CPAs.

ASTA serves as the premier advocate for global tourism and champion for travel professionals, while staying nimble amid changes in the industry. ASTA’s rebrand is not just an adjustment in nomenclature – it reflects the dramatic shift in the industry and a reawakening of the travel professional.
