Michael Sapienza is Chief Executive Officer of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, the world’s largest organization dedicated to helping people with colon cancer by providing cancer screening support and funding research initiatives.
In this edition, Sapienza shares how one of the Alliance’s areas of focus is reaching underserved populations that experience healthcare disparities, as Black Americans are 20% more likely to develop colorectal cancer, and 40% more likely to pass away as a result.
The Alliance helps deploy free screening tests across the country to increase access, while creating local and national research programs to identify and address the root causes.
