Building consensus can be challenging in associations where certain issues may affect members differently and finding a common denominator can be tricky.
Although large conference calls and group emails are efficient means of communicating broadly with members, picking up the phone for a one-on-one conversation may be much more effective in resolving a difference of opinion or gaining a better understanding of a member’s perspective.
Ultimately, changing (or eliminating) a few nuanced words or sentences within a statement may be all that is necessary to satisfy the vast majority of your members to create a powerful collective voice.
